Masterpiece
Written For National Poetry Month, 2021
I know you feel like you just can’t succeed though
you stoically place your feet in front of one another,
and the burden of filling the needs of your loved ones
has a tendency to make you feel low.
But God’s not calling you to run even faster
God’s not calling you to try even harder
He’s asking you: “be still and know!”
You, my friend, you are a masterpiece,
an original work of art;
the handiwork of the great I AM!
Your name is written upon his heart!
Sometimes its easy to forget all
the wonderful things you’ve said or done for other people
and the guilt of all that you’ve failed to do
weighs so heavily upon your soul.
But God’s not calling you to run even faster
God’s not calling you to try even harder
He’s asking you, “be still and know!”
You, my friend, you are a masterpiece,
an original work of art;
the handiwork of the great I AM!
Your name is written upon his heart!
Yes you my friend are an original work of art!
